{"id":890,"date":"2011-03-03T17:14:14","date_gmt":"2011-03-03T22:14:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/noelfigart.com\/blog\/?p=890"},"modified":"2011-03-03T17:14:14","modified_gmt":"2011-03-03T22:14:14","slug":"charity-knitting-and-challenges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/noelfigart.com\/wordpress\/2011\/03\/03\/charity-knitting-and-challenges\/","title":{"rendered":"Charity Knitting and Challenges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" title=\"BeginTriAranAngle\" src=\"http:\/\/noelfigart.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/BeginTriAranAngle-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So, having set myself the challenge of learning to knit from patterns properly, I started simply, and am going the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knitty.com\/ISSUEwinter03\/PATTtriaran.html\">Tri-Aran-Angle<\/a> shawl. \u00a0Since it&#8217;s a shawl,\u00a0getting the size wrong isn&#8217;t really a concern. \u00a0Also, I&#8217;m learning to do cables and such.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m actually doing the shawl for a the local hospital. \u00a0Like many places where people are in need of comfort, there is a Comfort Shawl project going on. \u00a0 People who are caregivers for the elderly, or caring for very ill relatives, can get a hand-knit or hand-crocheted shawl if they want one. \u00a0There are people who find them a help in time of trial. \u00a0This one is a fairly heavy one, so it&#8217;s going to be like wrapping yourself in a security blanket. \u00a0Also, it&#8217;s appropriate for the cold winter weather.<\/p>\n<p>So, what the heck? \u00a0I have yarn, the project looks like it&#8217;ll go fine, and someone can have a little something to feel better at a difficult time of life. \u00a0That works for me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, having set myself the challenge of learning to knit from patterns properly, I started simply, and am going the Tri-Aran-Angle shawl. \u00a0Since it&#8217;s a shawl,\u00a0getting the size wrong isn&#8217;t really a concern. \u00a0Also, I&#8217;m learning to do cables and such.
