To give you a general idea, a cruise ship that is full has about 2,500-3,000 passengers.\u00a0 The port area of Nassau really isn&#8217;t that large, so you can do the math in terms of the activity around the port.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"CIMG0023 by NoelFigart, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/noelfigart\/5020259703\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4151\/5020259703_0ac0c7cf66_m.jpg\" alt=\"CIMG0023\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\/\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>We decided that we couldn&#8217;t miss the opportunity to go snorkeling.\u00a0\u00a0It\u00a0was great.\u00a0 We sailed out on a catamaran out to a reef and played with the fishies for about an hour &#8212; seeing the most amazing variety of tropical fish and coral reef with brain coral, delicately-colored blue, or zebra fish (among MANY others) and enjoying the tropical sea.\u00a0 We sailed back drinking rum punch, though \u00a0and I limited ourselves to a cup each even though considerably more was being urged on us.\u00a0 Oh we were being sooo smart, weren&#8217;t we?<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, right.<\/p>\n<p>I was 15\u00a0the last time I&#8217;d\u00a0been in the Caribbean, and had\u00a0been with my parents who are pretty experienced travelers.\u00a0 So, while I knew that people who\u00a0make their living from tourists\u00a0can be pretty aggressive salesmen, I&#8217;d forgotten how much so!<\/p>\n<p>After we got off the\u00a0catamaran, we wandered briefly around an open air market.\u00a0 I wanted to buy a sarong, and did, from a woman who gave me $5 off because I was such a sexy lady &lt;snerk&gt;.\u00a0 Yes, I probably could have bargained her down, but\u00a0considered the price I paid plenty fair for a sarong.<\/p>\n<p>Then this woman wandering around the market came right up to and put a necklace around my neck and said, &#8220;Now you a Bahama\u00a0Mama, honey.&#8221; then turned to , putting another necklace around his neck, pronouncing him a Bahama Papa.\u00a0 She asked for\u00a0a donation &#8220;for the children&#8221; for the necklaces.\u00a0\u00a0 Yeah, we&#8217;re suckers.\u00a0 We gave her a ten spot.<\/p>\n<p>Did that put us on our guard enough?<\/p>\n<p>Hell no!<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"CIMG0027 by NoelFigart, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/noelfigart\/5020260609\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4144\/5020260609_7055466bca.jpg\" alt=\"CIMG0027\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\/\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>I got a lot of offers to get\u00a0my hair braided.\u00a0 Now, I&#8217;ve always rather wanted to try some of the more elaborate cornrow styles and figured this was a good chance to do so.\u00a0 So I\u00a0asked how much it would cost,\u00a0and the woman charged $7.00 a braid.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t even\u00a0go to the beauty\u00a0salon to get my hair colored, so I don&#8217;t know how much\u00a0this type\u00a0of thing is worth in real life, mind you, nor did I realize how MANY braids my hip-length and very thick hair would take.\u00a0\u00a0 I was figuring she&#8217;d do maybe ten or twelve cornrows, not a series of microbraids in the back and cornrows in the front.<\/p>\n<p>I have nearly fifty braids in my hair.\u00a0 Yes, I have a hairstyle that I paid over $300 for.\u00a0 I could have argued, but I didn&#8217;t.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t the faintest idea what the going\u00a0rate really is, and I didn&#8217;t want to cheat her out of pique.\u00a0 However, it took her about two hours to do it, and I&#8217;m not really sure that most hairdressers charge $150\/hr to work in an open-air market.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"20100923110129 by NoelFigart, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/noelfigart\/5020878014\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4090\/5020878014_53aec8b1d2.jpg\" alt=\"20100923110129\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\/\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a>That said,\u00a0she did a great\u00a0job on the\u00a0hairstyle.\u00a0 It looks good and is damned convenient for a cruise, especially the wind.\u00a0 In fact, if I find out this is really cheaper to get done in Stateside hair salons, I&#8217;ll probably get it done like this again for cruises and\/or beach trips.<\/p>\n<p>I had tilapo for dinner on a bed of Japanese ratatouille (meaning they put ginger in it.\u00a0 Yes, it was delicious).<\/p>\n<p>After dinner we went to a show with movie themed music and dancing.\u00a0 The concept was goofy but damn the performers were outstanding.\u00a0 The female singers especially had some <em>pipes, <\/em>let me tell you what!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We were able to sit in the bow of the ship eating lunch while The Enchantment of the Seas docked at Nassau.\u00a0 It was awesome to watch.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a dock that can take about four cruise ships.
