<\/a>I got an android phone a couple of months ago.\u00a0 I was enjoying it and all, but it was after I downloaded the Audible App<\/a> that I started moving to use it as my mobile media device.<\/p>\n

I used my iPod as a sleep aid and productivity tool.\u00a0 When I can\u2019t sleep, I\u2019ll put an audiobook on for a certain amount of time (usually 15 minutes will do it), and listen to a story until I fall asleep.\u00a0 It keeps me from ruminating on useless crap and allows me to do the truly productive thing at night \u2013 SLEEP!<\/p>\n

So, no music\/audiobook player was going to make No\u00ebl-san happy unless it had a feature where it\u2019d turn off after a few minutes.\u00a0 Well, whatdoyaknow? The Audible app has exactly that!<\/p>\n

However, not all of my audiobooks are from Audible.\u00a0 I have the Harry Potter books, MP3s I\u2019ve ripped from CDs from the library \u2013 you name it.\u00a0 So, what\u2019s an audio\/bibliophile to do?<\/p>\n

Well, there is the Sleep Timer<\/a>, a free app developed by Patrick Boos.\u00a0 This will integrate with your music player to turn off your music (and other functions on your android-based phone, if you want to)\u00a0 after a specified length of time.<\/p>\n

However, that didn\u2019t solve another problem.\u00a0 I have an extensive music collection that I\u2019d organized into smart playlists on iTunes.\u00a0 Now, for all that Apple gets under my fingernails from time to time, I do like the organization features of the iTunes media player.\u00a0 Was I screwed for using those playlists on my phone?<\/p>\n

Nope!\u00a0 Now, iSyncr<\/a> is not a free app, but at $2.99, I\u2019m not going to sweat the price for one paid app.\u00a0 This will load whatever playlists you select onto your phone.\u00a0 They play just fine through the default music app preloaded in Android.\u00a0 What it won\u2019t do is play DRM protected music you bought from iTunes.\u00a0 I know there\u2019s a kludge for that, but I don\u2019t know exactly what it is, and I don\u2019t buy a lot of music through iTunes, anyway.<\/p>\n

This means that my iPod is completely replaced, because I also use a music player with a sleep timer for another function.\u00a0 It\u2019s a serious productivity tool and procrastination avoider for me.\u00a0 When faced with a large, overwhelming task, I often will put on a music player with a fifteen minute sleep timer, promising myself I can stop when the music stops.\u00a0 By that time I\u2019m usually into the task enough to finish it, but even if I\u2019m not, do you know how much you can get done in several fifteen minute sessions of hyperfocus?<\/p>\n

Speaking of which, got some writin\u2019 that needs attending to\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
