{"id":286,"date":"2009-01-24T16:12:51","date_gmt":"2009-01-24T21:12:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/noelfigart.com\/blog\/?p=286"},"modified":"2009-01-24T16:12:51","modified_gmt":"2009-01-24T21:12:51","slug":"the-knit-kit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/noelfigart.com\/wordpress\/2009\/01\/24\/the-knit-kit\/","title":{"rendered":"The Knit Kit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes you find a gadget that is so well-designed and thoughtfully engineered for its purpose that you have to stare in jaw-dropping awe.\u00a0 Thanks to <span class=\"ljuser\" style=\"font-weight: 800;\"><a class=\"ljuser\" href=\"http:\/\/www.livejournal.com\/userinfo.bml?user=ame_chan\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"ljuser\" src=\"http:\/\/www.livejournal.com\/img\/userinfo.gif\" alt=\"ame_chan\" width=\"17\" height=\"17\" align=\"absmiddle\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><a class=\"ljuser\" href=\"http:\/\/www.livejournal.com\/users\/ame_chan\/\">ame_chan<\/a><\/span> for this!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/noelfigart.com\/wordpress\/2009\/01\/24\/the-knit-kit\/knitkit-3\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1818\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1818 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/noelfigart.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/Knitkit-3-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Knitkit\" width=\"474\" height=\"356\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nNow, this blog is not meant to promote products, but I&#8217;m gonna show off one:\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theknitkit.com\/\">The Knit Kit<\/a>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s coming out in March.\u00a0 This is smart and useful design.\u00a0 It contains &#8216;most every little accessory tool you&#8217;d need when you&#8217;re out and about knitting, and goodness knows there are many of us who knit while we travel &#8212; whether it&#8217;s commuting or if it&#8217;s a longer trip on an airplane. I&#8217;m going to be going to Florida the week after next and I wish the product were already available.\u00a0 Of <em>course<\/em> I&#8217;m planning my Plane Project.\u00a0 Most likely socks.\u00a0 I like knitting socks on planes because it&#8217;s small and easily portable in my laptop bag.\u00a0 You can often tell how much I&#8217;ve flown in a year by how many socks I&#8217;ve made!\u00a0 The only redundancy I see is that there are scissors as well as a thread cutter here.\u00a0 The only thing I usually need scissors for is cutting yarn anyway.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m working on a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.helloyarn.com\/wecallthempirates.htm\">We Call Them Pirates<\/a> hat in black and red for myself.\u00a0\u00a0 I have one in black and white, but it was my first attempt at stranded knitting and I really did make it too tight.\u00a0 It looks okay, but it&#8217;s just too small for my bus head.\u00a0 If you have a child who&#8217;d like the hat, lemme know<sup>1<\/sup>.\u00a0 On a whim, I went through my stash and realized I had enough wool to make myself another one, so I am.\u00a0 &#8216;Cause, well&#8230; PIRATES!\u00a0 What I really need to do is make the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.helloyarn.com\/piratemittens.htm\">matching mittens<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m also going through my stash to see what I can knit up without buying anything.\u00a0 One of the great joys of the fact that I use a template and just come up with goofy stuff for a lot of my projects is that I can use up yarn when I overbuy.\u00a0 I have a lot of gray, some burgundy, some black and some gold.\u00a0 I could probably come up with something reasonably entertaining with that if I gave it some thought.<\/p>\n<p>My son is pushing for another gold sweater.\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to have to buckle down and get the nerve to try the Seamless Saddle Shouldered Sweater from <em>Knitting Without Tears<\/em>.\u00a0 The design is a bit more classic than the 70s looking yoke sweaters, so translates well across the years.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><sup>1<\/sup>Obviously, this&#8217;ll go to the first person who asks for it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes you find a gadget that is so well-designed and thoughtfully engineered for its purpose that you have to stare in jaw-dropping awe.\u00a0 Thanks to ame_chan for this!
